50L Swagday! November 6, 2009

As a consumer I have almost no idea how 50 Linden Friday actually works, beyond that it is a weekly event where l33t Fashion FIC (lols!) people give me a chance to by cheap stuff. Through my Vast Inside Knowledge I am told there is some sort of massive waiting list, so I think it is a set of shops and if someone pulls out they get in someone else to make up the numbers? Whatevz, also it almost certainly wouldn’t work with many more shops, if only because I at least would become pickier about what I wanted to drop the vast sum of 50L on. Maybe it is to get freebie-hunters to spend spacebux? I know I met a woman on it once who said she has never paid Ls for anything yet has awesome stuff.

Anyway, the point is the swag! I picked up this dress from TY – Ty Zvezda and the cardigan thing from Milk Motion. I was tempted by other things, but a girl has to make tier, yo. I love this dress with one reservation. Okay, two. One is that the skirt and belt part are all one block so many poses eat the belt though I realise that my avatar is hugely fat. (Note: She isn’t.) The other thing is the glitchpants, in that there aren’t any. Normally I don’t buy dresses/skirts that don’t come with glitchpants, but it was only 50L and so 80s. Still, glitchpants are a good idea. An excellent idea, in fact. ALWAYS MAKE SOME, PLS.

Now onto things that were not 50L. I got this hair from Gritty Kitty today, even though it is a hat-hair. I just really liked the hat, what else can I say? I have also worn these smashing fishnets from Blowpop, which are among the best fishnets on the grid. These are they in ripped stockings, but you can buy them as unripped and as tights also. Or “pantyhose” as some nations hilariously call them.

The shoes came through the Maitreya Subscribe-o-Magic, they are not a style I would normally indulge in but a) free and b) seemed like they would go with the rest of the outfit. Skin is from lis_noir, see previous post.

Underwears as Outerwears November 6, 2009

I got this skin a while back and have not been that good at finding looks that go with it. But I feel I have achieved with this “fell out of bed and went out into the world” ensemble. It is the underwear bits from a Paper Couture dress (old collection, look upstairs for it now) and the Gattina hair from Tiny Bird that I picked up back at the Hair Fair. So don’t worry I didn’t buy any of this on the day when I am supporting creators by depriving them of the spacebux they need to make tier.

The skin is from lis_noir, where there are two lines of lovely drawn-looking skins. I like looking slightly less than real, it makes SL seem more fun somehow. Not that there’s anything wrong with photorealism, I totally wear photo or hybrid skins a lot of the time. Just that I have always wanted something along these lines and the FD/NO ones have never quite suited me (though stay tuned for if I ever blog the one FD skin I found that worked on the Chav). This look aims for “I just woke up, this is what I look like under all the make-up.” This is helped by the hair which speaks of hobo hairdressers in Calleta. Though nowadays they live on Hobo Island, but there is an old school vibe to me that makes me think of those glory days of a sim that crashes every five minutes.

Oh and the shoes, which I lusted after for ever such a long time before finally buying them. It’s that they don’t really go with much that I own but still I wanted them because they are beautiful and made me weep with their gorgeous. They are also from PC, you need to own them so you can feel like a magical princess.

Things! November 2, 2009

I got these trouser things in the black stuff sale at Fishy Strawberry, which you have missed but I hope you didn’t, I hope you found out from somewhere and went. Black things were cheap, I obtained many black things. These trousers were especially welcome as I had wanted them when they came out but was being cheap that week I think. Skin was also in the black sale, so now I have two make-ups of this skin, which is Lan in Cappucino tone.

T-shirt is Armidi (back when they released stuff ever) and the wee jacket thing is from Paradisis I think the name is. It was free or some few Ls and it has paw prints on it like I am some sort of neko. Note lack of tail. Awesome boots are cheap from Duh! They are nice big scary boots that will put off noob-cocks and make cool people want to be your friend. Hair is from Truth, a recent release I think, called Isle or something along those lines.

You know, I would rather skin had no bits than it had bits that look scary. You know, the wee thin line of what I assume is pubes leading to a weird slash of “womanhood”. And sort of somehow held open so you can see the ovaries. Mmm, ovaries.

 

I hate you, Blender October 25, 2009

Blender so far is not as impossible as people claim, thanks to tutorials explaining how it works, but I am hitting the wall that is my lack of artistic talent. And I’m not sure what to make. But I can make vases. Anyone need some vases? As you might guess I am getting sick of vases. I have moved on to pots and hats that don’t work. Some day I hope to make something amazing like a shoe. I made some awful shoes for my wyfe, but she has yet to recieve them since she is not on that much at the moment due to having a life. They are very awful shoes, but I suppose they are proof of concept? If you want sculpts you should buy Rachel Breaker’s, she can do awesome things with Blender.

Rezday soon, which I expect to forget like I always do. I will be three. Did you know we die when we hit ten? It was coded into SL at the very start and it cannot be removed without removing our feet as well. This is part of the prim feet conspiracy, but the point is that we will die and there is nothing anyone – not even Torley – can do about it.

FASHION? I don’t know, just I am horribly tempted by LeLutka things and we know why that is bad. Will there be new Paper Couture at some point? I hope so, they make the best things. Unwearably best, but still best.

A Plan October 24, 2009

I am thinking I should do more with this blog, since really I am not that good at taking pictures of spaceclothes and finding things to say about them. Though obviously I plan to continue doing that, as it is amusing to me. Perhaps I can also pimp out stuff I made, speak of interesting places I went to, and say occasional controversial things because isn’t that what everyone wants to read these days?

On the first point I reduced prices in my shop, though I, erm, don’t have a SLURL handy. I will find one and shove it in on the blog page somewhere.  I am hoping to hit the level of “impulse buy” while still covering costs. I tiered down so I need less spacebux to do that now, which is something of a relief due to rarely selling anything. I closed The Steamstress for now, but there may be a small one of that opening in Babbage if we ever get round to building my wyfe’s house there. It’s all still on Xstreet, which reminds me that I need to reduce the idk stuff over there. Bah, effort.

SecondSecrets got banned from Plurk, which was really just a matter of time. It wasn’t even that interesting anyway, since there were no anon comments and thus it was just someone saying something drama-mongering and then other people telling them to go die. I don’t know if it would have been better if there had been more dramas, but it might have been more interesting. Heh heh, dramas. Now there is someone who claims they “bust SL fakes” though what exactly that entails seems to be commenting on Second Secrets to call people names.

Anyway, that is my plan, I would like to hear what people think of it.

So I went to the Kurumi opening sale and got some things that are pink. Very pink. PINK, even. Obviously there were colours that are not pink, but today I do not quite understand what those colours are for. They’re just not essential, darling.

I did have to move around attachments that were giant on me, but isn’t that part of the charm? Anyway, I like this… creation that is available as a jumpsuit or a dress. It has either collar or hood, depending on your choice of attachment. I don’t see why you would need both, but some people might get sad that they can’t.

I should also apologise for not blogging in what seems like a year, this is because I have been building and neglecting my appearance dreadfully.  Other than changing hair every five minutes, obviously. Isn’t hair special?

Dominance, Mwahahaha October 5, 2009

Greetings, peons, I am Mistress Chav. Today, at least, when I am wearing this “Dominance” outfit from Bare Rose, which is easily the best shop in the Second Life game. If I was Mistress Chav this is how classy I would try to be. My slaves would spend all day trawling shops looking for equally fashionable outfits, because leather thongs just look sore and lets not even talk about nipple chains. Can I say such things on WordPress? I would hope so.

Hair is from Magika, which I always confuse with Maitreya, shoes are ankle boots from Bax, skin is from Redgrave. I actually first of all bought this skin in orange out of stupidity, but I could see that it was pretty enough that the less orange tone would be smashing. I like to think there’s a lesson in that for all of us, even if it’s just “WTF since when are humans orange?”

Fishy Strawberry September 25, 2009

O hay, I bought a skin! This is “Lan” from Fishy Strawberry, and I got it after being influenced by Plurk. Oh, social media, how you encourage consumerism. I chose the most natural make-up just so that I wouldn’t clash with clothes, but the other make-ups were cute. To be honest I was a bit unsure because on my unmodded shape the lips were gigantic, but that might just be my shape and it’s easily fixed via the use of sliders. Anyway, it’s not like you’d buy skin without trying on a demo, is it? In the end, facial shape modding was done in a) making the lips less giant and b) uncreasing around the eyes because I had massive eyebrows on my normal settings. I share this in the interests of full disclosure.

It has a wee bit of that “face lighter than the body” thing, but nothing awful. Also if you look towards the womanly curves, you will see it is as bright as the breasts. I don’t know what that means. It has a nice arse and smashing tits. Those are the important things, I’m sure. I like the stomach and the knees.

Hair is from fri.day. Why do they have a dot in their name? It’s like it’s got a subdomain attached to it.

Cupcakes September 23, 2009

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything full price from Cupcakes, not because I don’t like the stuff but because there’s so many sales and freebies. Skins especially, I have a whole folder full of those that were group gifts. I mention this because I got this stuff on sale as well, 25L a dress in the upstairs bit. The stuff is so nice, it really is.  I got a couple of things I will probably never wear just because they were so pretty, like when I get mad things at Paper Couture. Only these are more sensible than that, I should emphasise. You could wear these clothes anywhere, and people would Inspect you and/or think you’re a pretty princess deserving of cake and Linden bears.

Hair is Gritty Kitty, Shoes from League, Skin… err… I think it’s Laqroki? I should take notes before I do these things, I’m so faily.
