Still tending to crash with snapshots, which is not fun. And printscreen is too old school and bothersome. In other news I have been learning to make sculpted shoes, which is awfully hard. I think I’m doing something wrong when I make soles but I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing there so it’s basically a game of making it up as you go along. One day someone will make a tutorial and I will learn. I hope. Meantime I have a million extra pairs of shoes now, not all of which are that nice.
Finally a poast! December 23, 2009
I’ve been having trouble taking snapshots without crashing. And uploading, it took me like eleven crashes and three viewers before I finally managed to upload my most recent sculpts. But anyway, I got some pictures taken, finally.
Here I am “showcasing” a jumpsuit thing from the Pink Outfitters 50L sale. Ah, another shop where I owned almost nothing before I bought a million things in a sale! I suppose that means sales must work, yeah? It comes with an undershirt/tank but I am wearing this Armidi t-shirt instead, from the long-off days when Armidi actually released anything ever. (And the recruits seem to be doing their own thing again now, so is Armidi dead now?) Actually is London Dailey London Armidi? It is similar in style and craftage, no?
Anyway, here also is hair from Clawtooth from a recent sale that is now over. Things were half price, which made me happier than paying 300L for hair. Maybe if I didn’t wear black and thus usually end up with four almost identical shades of black when I buy hair? Man, hair used to be so much cheaper. Except for the people that were expensive, but who cares about them? See also the newest trainers from HoC which are low-top so they don’t fight with your trouser legs for Precious Attachment Points. The skin is an expensive purchase from Cake, and I do love it. As usual, tattoos are from artilleri. Which, erm, also had a sale. Basically there have been a lot of sales. I don’t know whether to thank Xmas or the failing SL economy.
I myself have currently stopped selling clothes to people apart from like templates and stuff. It is less stressful thus makes me happier. So now I am all poses and textures and basic sculpts. It makes me happy, I can basically make anything and then shove it into the shop. Also I have a house now! A wee house full of furnitures!
But anyway, SL fashion. It is very serrius bizness, like how [redacted] looks an awful lot like [redacted] from last year. Or how [removed] may not be able to make shoes after all.
look of the erm day? December 9, 2009
O hay, it’s that jacket from Kyoot! Which I love, I cannot lie. It’s just so nice and has that demented collar. You can get it in a dark brown for free if you find the wee book in the shop that’s for the Down The Chimney Hunt. I reckon that hunt is worth doing, there’s some good things in it. Tank is a fri.day freebie (group gift?) and the trousers are ones I picked up the current sale. I admit, I did indeed see them when they came out and thought “I will wait for the inevitable sale.” fri.day stuff is not exciting as such, but they do make very good basics. It’s just sometimes you stand in that half-empty shop wishing for a bright pink dress with bizarre sleeves. Since that shop is run by alts I a wee bit wonder if someone who makes mad stuff wanted to make fast spacebux with stuff anyone would wear because it’s so standard. In any case the frequent sales (not as frequent as Cupcakes sales, but what is?) are a good place to pick up standard pieces like jeans and denim skirts and tank tops.
For shoes I was a bit stuck and went with this slightly odd look which is the lower half of the Bad Boy Scout boots from [CIVVIES]. Those boots were probably one of my best SL deals since I wear them an awful lot. Sadly the top half and the prim cuffs couldn’t both exist so I had to compromise.
I thought about wearing sunglasses but decided that would be Too Much.
Hair is from Tiny Bird, skin is Adam n Eve’s Mei Li II.
whee! December 5, 2009
Since I missed my Rezday and didn’t have a sale I’ve made stuff in idk (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nokomis/222/143/104/) be 10L for bits and 20L for dresses. I don’t know how long that will last, if it is forever or not. I would like people to have my things more than I would like many spacebux from it (though spacebux would be nice, obviously). Partly it is because Xstreet are getting rid of free stuff and that annoyed me because I had so many free stuffs there. 10L is not free but it will hopefully cover the upload fees.
Mei Li 2 December 3, 2009
I have waited on this skin for ages. It was released at the KMADD Skin Fair but I was unsure about the make-ups and was all “would I wear this if I got it?” and skins are a big purchase so I am a bit cautious about them. But there are new make-ups of it now that are more like what I normally get. This one is “Yaoi” which is Japanese for “slash fanfiction” or something. As you can see it comes in both normal and BOOBS. That is where the breasts are pushed together to make them look like you’re in an amazing bra and the overall effect is BOOBS. I am not a huge fan of BOOBS on Chav but I like that there is the option. Other options include Pube Knickers as they are technically known in the business. You can choose from 4 tones in this skin, this is tone 2.
I wore Mei Li for a long time and so I was excited and pleased to finally get some Mei Li 2 action going on. I like that there is a bit less severity on the cheekbones, which was a skin trend I never really took to all that much. I like grown-up look it has, and the smashing arse among other features.
Hair is from fri.day (sale, yay!) and undies are from Xmas last year at Armidi so you no can has.
Patiskin! November 13, 2009

Patience Xie is awesomecakes, and she has been modding those Eloh skins like unto a woman possessed. Here is “The Fighter” which is beaten up. I am not normally sure how I feel about beaten-up skins, esp as they cause Drama, but as you can see from the name I won the fight. The other guy is like totally worse-looking than this. Pati’s shop is here and she also has green witchy skin and silvery robot skin. She likes Halloween a lot.
I obtained the skin as Blogger Swag, which btw I love HINT HINT and I feel I should mention that so that you know I am a) liek totally FIC and b) showing you something I didn’t have to pay for. Obviously it is most important that you know how Liek Totally FIC I am, because sometimes I feel left out not really knowing many fashion people. Woe is me.
To go with it I am wearing these combat trousers from Abyss, where I also got these dogtags. They are parts from one of those full avatar sets they sell, now available in pieces for those of us who don’t want to have to buy a shape or skin we don’t really want anyway. I think they should do this with more of their sets, but I assume they must sell as-is or they wouldn’t keep making them.
Corset is from Lovelace/Pixeldolls for that girly touch (EDIT: may not be available anymore? Woe.), and the boots are from Catnip. But I am not a neko, no. SEE, NO TAIL. Hair is a Truth one I am in love with, called Isle.
EDIT: Here is an alternate location for Pati’s skins. They are on a cart, apparently. EDIT AGAIN: Cart at the first place, oops.
Skin! November 12, 2009

The other skin I picked up at the Skin Fair was Idiosyncrasy’s Devon, which I almost didn’t get because I was like “what is this weird brightness between the boobs?” but in the end I did anyway and isn’t it pretty? As you can see it has arms and legs and all the usual bits. Well, I don’t know about the bits bits, as I didn’t look. It is not my way to stare at my avatar’s bits. If it matters to you you can get a demo, so there. I will probably mess about with my shape around the lips, but otherwise I didn’t do any alterations to fit. This is it in “Base” (“Sunkissed” tone) because I seem to be overly worried about getting make-ups and them clashing with things. So this is her simplest form and the pretty is still there so I call that a win.
I still wonder why the Skin Fair turned off fly, but the build was nice so maybe it was to make us appreciate it by making us go past it slowly.Less low-lag than that other skin fair at KMADD, but not as whatever-it-was as the Hair Fair. My second visit wasn’t very laggy, so it seems it quietened down fairly fast.
Hair is from Truth (old freebie I think), undies are from the hunt at the Cupcakes sim opening.
Skin and a very shiny frock November 9, 2009

Yay, skin fair! Erm, the one at Vanity Universe. Which is the… third one this year? Anyway, it’s a skin fair! I bought two skins thus far, though I totally cheated and just went to the main stores after trying demos picked up at the fair. This is Lion Skins’ Yin skin, which is perhaps sliiiiightly weird around the eyes but I don’t care. There are Yin and Yang skins, with sensible or weird make-ups respectively. Like a girl I got one of the sensible ones. It makes me look a bit more grown up than usual, which is nice.
The dress is from TGIS which I believe stands for Trashy Girls In Style. I like when shops are descriptive like that. It is… either a photograph or terrifying. It looks scarily reflective and has little arm reflections painted on the back, which obviously will look a bit weird if you wear dark skin. I am fairly sure it was free, and I love it because it is like being wrapped in tinfoil and thus safe from M Linden’s mind rays.
Shoes are old Paper Couture (should be upstairs now?) and the hair is from Cherry Tokyo’s Kimonos, which does indeed sell things other than kimono.
50L Swagday! November 6, 2009

As a consumer I have almost no idea how 50 Linden Friday actually works, beyond that it is a weekly event where l33t Fashion FIC (lols!) people give me a chance to by cheap stuff. Through my Vast Inside Knowledge I am told there is some sort of massive waiting list, so I think it is a set of shops and if someone pulls out they get in someone else to make up the numbers? Whatevz, also it almost certainly wouldn’t work with many more shops, if only because I at least would become pickier about what I wanted to drop the vast sum of 50L on. Maybe it is to get freebie-hunters to spend spacebux? I know I met a woman on it once who said she has never paid Ls for anything yet has awesome stuff.
Anyway, the point is the swag! I picked up this dress from TY – Ty Zvezda and the cardigan thing from Milk Motion. I was tempted by other things, but a girl has to make tier, yo. I love this dress with one reservation. Okay, two. One is that the skirt and belt part are all one block so many poses eat the belt though I realise that my avatar is hugely fat. (Note: She isn’t.) The other thing is the glitchpants, in that there aren’t any. Normally I don’t buy dresses/skirts that don’t come with glitchpants, but it was only 50L and so 80s. Still, glitchpants are a good idea. An excellent idea, in fact. ALWAYS MAKE SOME, PLS.
Now onto things that were not 50L. I got this hair from Gritty Kitty today, even though it is a hat-hair. I just really liked the hat, what else can I say? I have also worn these smashing fishnets from Blowpop, which are among the best fishnets on the grid. These are they in ripped stockings, but you can buy them as unripped and as tights also. Or “pantyhose” as some nations hilariously call them.
The shoes came through the Maitreya Subscribe-o-Magic, they are not a style I would normally indulge in but a) free and b) seemed like they would go with the rest of the outfit. Skin is from lis_noir, see previous post.
Underwears as Outerwears November 6, 2009

I got this skin a while back and have not been that good at finding looks that go with it. But I feel I have achieved with this “fell out of bed and went out into the world” ensemble. It is the underwear bits from a Paper Couture dress (old collection, look upstairs for it now) and the Gattina hair from Tiny Bird that I picked up back at the Hair Fair. So don’t worry I didn’t buy any of this on the day when I am supporting creators by depriving them of the spacebux they need to make tier.
The skin is from lis_noir, where there are two lines of lovely drawn-looking skins. I like looking slightly less than real, it makes SL seem more fun somehow. Not that there’s anything wrong with photorealism, I totally wear photo or hybrid skins a lot of the time. Just that I have always wanted something along these lines and the FD/NO ones have never quite suited me (though stay tuned for if I ever blog the one FD skin I found that worked on the Chav). This look aims for “I just woke up, this is what I look like under all the make-up.” This is helped by the hair which speaks of hobo hairdressers in Calleta. Though nowadays they live on Hobo Island, but there is an old school vibe to me that makes me think of those glory days of a sim that crashes every five minutes.
Oh and the shoes, which I lusted after for ever such a long time before finally buying them. It’s that they don’t really go with much that I own but still I wanted them because they are beautiful and made me weep with their gorgeous. They are also from PC, you need to own them so you can feel like a magical princess.
